Vacancies available on the National Trust’s Full Time Volunteer scheme on the spectacular North Cornwall coast. Work with the rangers in the Boscastle to Morwenstow area, undertaking a wide variety of practical management and estate maintenance. Incl. footpath management, fencing, woodworking, stone walling, broadleaf woodland management, wildlife conservation tasks and various patrol tasks etc. Would suit someone who also wishes to gain experience in environmental education and leading events and also, you’ll be acting as an ambassador for the National Trust, liaising with the local communities.
Volunteers spend anywhere between 6 and 12 months with us gaining ‘on the job’ experience with most going on to find employment in countryside management sector.
Training courses provided subject to funding and availability (e.g. NPTC and Lantra certificated courses, also general BTCV and National Trust courses including practical countryside skills, habitat management, species ID, education and interpretation skills). Also Diploma in Work-based Environmental Conservation available.
DRIVING LICENCE ESSENTIAL. Would suit those of a very practical nature, who are physically fit & enjoy working outdoors. Interest and/or qualification in countryside management and nature conservation would be useful.
Accommodation provided FREE, but contribution towards electric and phone bills.
Minimum 6 months commitment required.
