Boscastle loses its main road to works

The main road through Boscastle will be shut for up to 20 weeks this winter for roadworks.
The works, which started on November 1, are to rebuild the retaining wall that supports the B3263, which runs behind The Shippen properties, and along New Road cutting through the town.
A number of alternative routes have been planned while the road is closed for repair. Cormac, who are carrying out the work on behalf of Cornwall Council, have opened up two temporary diversion routes around Boscastle to stem the flow of congested traffic.
Heavy goods vehicles will be required to use the A39. A secondary route for light vehicles only will make use of the one-way road system on Old Road, Dunn Street and Fore Street, which will be catering for two-way traffic for the duration of the repairs.
