Thursday’s Polzeath Marine Discovery Day was fantastic.....!

The National Trust was just one of the organisations involved, along with others including Cornwall Wildlife Trust, there was lots to see and do for all ages. Activities included story telling, arts and crafts, adopt-a-lobster, sand sculpture competitions, guided walks, rockpool rambles and a dolphin rescue demonstration. The beach was busy so there were plenty of people to get involved with all the fun.

The sand sculptures were amazing. I had the hard task, with fellow judges from Cornwall Council and Cornwall Wildlife Trust, of deciding on winners; they were all worthy of prizes.

 a great octopus!

Ice Cream.... with a flake

Sculptures included turtles, seals, crab, octopi, spider, ice creams, owl, ten pin bowling, grand piano, fish and chips, dragon and mermaids. I’ll get more photos posted soon, but here are a few…

All the activities were enjoyed by many, with hopefully some taking home the message of how important it is we look after our marine environment. It was such a successful day I think all involved will be looking to do it all again next year!

With best wishes,
