We had about 20 hardy souls turn up for the walk led by a local geoligist on what turned out to be a wild windy squally day.

Here
on the North Cornwall coast the Holywell to Tintagel ranger team
recently took delivery of nine beautiful Dartmoor ponies, including
three foals born earlier in the year. They seemed delighted to have
arrived when they completed their journey, instantly galloping around
and exploring the picturesque territory of their seaside winter
vacation.

The word Wassail refers to several related traditions; first and foremost wassailing is an ancient southern English tradition that is performed with the intention of ensuring a good crop of cider apples for the next year's harvest. It also refers to both the salute 'Waes Hail', the term itself is a contraction of the Middle English phrase wæs hæil, meaning literally 'good healthUnknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-969718979722066336.post-28475900948394071462011-11-01T19:29:00.000+00:002011-11-01T19:29:16.865+00:00Halloween
The annual meeting of mini-wizards,

While the parents enjoyed tea, coffee
and biscuits the little devils enjoyed the ghostly trick or treat

Seems this seal pup had been asleep while the tide went out, and we'd woken him* rudely. At first he growled at us when we went over to see if he was OK, but once he got used to us, he became curious and at one point came over to us to take a closer look.
